Jamat-e-Islami's wish-list for budget includes job creation and wealth redistribution
Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) has asked the government to make job generation and wealth distribution a priority in the Union Budget for 2026-27. Although the economy of India is rapidly growing, JIH feels that this growth has not been felt by everyone, given the low employability of Youth in the nation along with increasing costs in houses. In their budget papers, JIH stressed that employment generation should be an explicit outcome of government expenditure. The party demanded greater support to MSMEs, encouragement to labor-intensive sectors, employment schemes in urban and rural areas, and efforts to ensure a stable income support system for farmers. The memo’s highlights included containing medical expenses and providing employment to educated youth through apprenticeships. The organisation also emphasized the provision of socio-economic support services for Muslims, referring to historical inequalities in educational, employment, and credit provision. On the revenue generation side, proposals included progressive taxation in an effort to fairly share resources. JIH stated that their agenda is to ensure that economic expansion is channeled to create jobs, security of income, and social equality for all class citizens.
